The cloned page
Among all the internet copies of my film "In the Tube with Carla" that you will found today on the Internet. Yesterday was appeared a copy of the original Vimeo Thomas Cazals's webpage before the film was deleted by the Vimeo company. A "cloned version" of the page is online and the movie is in full version inside.

Statistics are not the same between the two homepages. Since 25th may, the cloned page (lower) marks 0 connections.
In fact, the true homepage (picture lower) shows a few connections, until today.

Ceci est une capture d'écran de ma vraie page d'accueil, aujourd'hui. Le film "In the Tube with Carla" ne figure pas dans la liste de mes vidéos.
La preuve
Les statistiques en bas de la page entre la fausse et la vraie page ne sont pas les mêmes. Depuis le 25 Mai la fausse page (plus bas) indique 0 connections.
Alors que sur la vraie page (plus bas), les statistiques indiquent toute de même quelques connections, jusqu'à aujourd'hui.

After the webcast of my film "In the Tube with Carla." And the buzz generated on the Internet in France and worldwide, I want to clarify some things. The film was removed from servers Vimeo on May 24, 2010, after 65,000 viewings, for 3 days of webcast.
I had no pressure to remove it from the Elysee .All excerpts from TV shows that I used for the film are certainly still available on YouTube or elsewhere ... During his three-day webcast film "In The Tube with Carla" has been downloaded, copied, reshoot ... You can find copies everywhere. It will come up again, remixed, some will make episodes, it even provides a version in 3D ...
"In the Tube with Carla" is not a political film. In many recent television interviews Carla Bruni Sarkozy says that she's not involved in politics. She is an artist married to a politician.
The subject of the film "In the Tube with Carla" is quite different.
Today thousands of movies, series, songs, pictures, books can be found on the web without the permission of their creators. This is the case today for my film. The technological solutions considered to date are not effective in solving this part of the problem.
On the other hand, free access to these works through the Internet is simultaneously a fabulous opportunity for everyone to discover new talents and new forms of art.
This is the free nature of the network, and one reason for the success of the film "In the Tube with Carla." But The fact that it is free is causing some problems to artists.
At a time when YouTube receives each minute (!) 24 hours of new images (!). We really need to look for the right solutions that will reconcile the two.

Après la diffusion sur Internet de mon film « In the Tube with Carla ». Et le buzz engendré sur Internet en France et dans le monde. Je tiens à préciser certaines choses. Le film a été retiré des serveurs de Viméo le 24 Mai 2010, après 65.000 visionnages et 3 jours de diffusion.
Je n'ai pas eu de pression de l'Elysée pour enlever mon film « In the Tube with Carla ». Toutes les extraits d'émissions télévisées que j'ai utilisé pour le film sont certainement encore disponibles sur YouTube ou ailleurs... Durant ses trois jours de diffusion sur Internet le film « In The Tube with Carla » a été téléchargé, copié, refilmé... Vous en trouverez des copies partout. Il sera remonté, remixé, certains feront des suites, pourquoi pas une version en relief...
« In the Tube with Carla » n'est pas un film politique. Dans de nombreuses interviews télévisées récentes Carla Bruni Sarkozy déclare qu'elle ne fait pas de politique. C'est une artiste mariée à un homme politique. Le sujet du film « In the Tube with Carla » est tout autre.
Aujourd'hui des milliers de films, de séries, de chansons, de photos, de livres se retrouvent sur le web sans l'autorisation de leurs créateurs. C'est le cas pour mon film aujourd'hui. Les solutions technologiques envisagées à ce jour n'apparaissent pas efficaces pour régler cette partie du problème.
D'autre part, l'accessibilité gratuite à ces oeuvres grâce à Internet est en même temps une chance fabuleuse pour tous de découvrir de nouveaux talents et de nouvelles formes d'art.
Cette gratuité c'est la nature même du réseau. Ce mélange entre images privées et accès gratuit est une des raisons du succès du film « In the Tube with Carla ». Mais elle pose certains problèmes.
A l'heure où YouTube reçoit chaque minute (!) 24 heures de nouvelles images (!). Il nous faut vraiment chercher les bonnes solutions qui concilieront ce mélange.

A brief note about my movie "In the tube with Carla"

Yesterday at 5 PM, Vimeo website deleted my movie "In the Tube with Carla" from their website. During the day the movie made 45.000 connections (in three days 70.000) :

Dear Vimeo,
The video that you've removed "In the Tube with Carla" is an artistic work. My movie recycles YouTube videos that I didn't put on the web. (like Andy Warhol have done by the past with Campbell's soup). I have downloaded them, edited them (creation) and re-shooted with a camera the editing of the movie (creation again) on my computer screen, in order to give it the final aesthetic.
I'm a filmaker and an auteur who try to work about new media and new form of art.
I really thought that "Vimeo" was a good place for that kind of thinking

Today (Tuesday 25th May 2010), a lot of the press on-line speak about my movie "In the tube with Carla", like a french political affair. And the film doesn't more exist on the internet...Why ?
I want to keep artistic control on my movie. I have uploaded "In the Tube with Carla" on YouTube website (during one hour yesterday in the night). The success was amazing. But, I had to cut the movie in three parts for the upload. YouTube doesn't accept videos more longer than 8 minutes. I didn't like that, and all the commercial stuff on YouTube. In the night I have deleted all the files from my YouTube home page...
The movie "In the Tube with Carla" still exist... I just try to think about a good way to broadcast it

MAN WITH THE MOVIE CAMERA (Remake it !)
L’Homme à la caméra est une vidéo participative inspirée par le chef d’œuvre de Vertov, L’Homme à la caméra. Tout le monde est invité à télécharger un extrait vidéo à http://dziga.perrybard.net. Les contributions font partie d’une base de données à partir de laquelle le logiciel crée un montage selon l’original. Quand le film est projeté, votre séquence vidéo fait partie d’un montage mondial, selon Vertov « l’étude directe des phénomènes vivants qui nous entourent.
The Global Remake is a participatory video shot by people around the world who are invited to record images interpreting the original script of Vertov’s Man With A Movie Camera and upload them to this site. Software developed specifically for this project archives, sequences and streams the submissions as a film. Anyone can upload footage.
